DIXMOOR, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Schools and businesses have reopened in Dixmoor following two weeks of water problems, but the issue is still not resolved.
Dixmoor has a temporary fix with water coming from Blue Island, which has solved an issue with pressure. Village President Fitzgerald Roberts said that proves the problem was on Harvey's end all along. The City of Harvey supplies the village's water and there has been back and forth regarding who is to blame.
"What we're trying to do now is wean ourselves off of Blue Island. That way we know exactly how much pressure is Harvey sending over," said Harvey during a village board meeting.
While the water is back and things are returning to normal, the issue has not been permanently solved. There's still a boil order in the village.
"This was a crisis we were dealing with," said Roberts. "This is a crisis no one in Dixmoor dealt with before. We did all that we can do."
Dixmoor officials plan to meet with representative from Blue Island to discuss running a permanent tap for future emergency situations.
