(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — With a handful of Democrats already declaring, there is finally a Republican apparently ready for a run for Illinois secretary of state.

State Rep. Dan Brady's is a funeral director, and he’s a former McLean County coroner first elected to the Illinois House in the year 2000.

The Bloomington Republican amended the paperwork of his campaign committee to reflect he is running not for a twelfth term in the House, but, rather, for secretary of state to succeed longtime Democrat incumbent Jesse White.

Almost a year before the election, Brady could be ready to introduce himself to voters statewide.

The secretary of state, among other duties, oversees driver’s licenses and registration of automobiles.
