HUNTLEY (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - An E. coli outbreak is now being tied to Huntley High School.
Sixteen cases of E. coli are now confirmed to have come from Huntley High School, specifically from a cafeteria station where cold sub sandwiches were made.
That confirmation comes from the McHenry County Health Department.
It happened in September, but the numbers and the confirmation of the link to the outbreak were not confirmed until now.
Of the cases, six patients went to the emergency room with symptoms, and two were hospitalized, according to the report. Cases came from all lunch hours.
More than 1,500 students and staff were interviewed by the Health Department.
The District does not contract with outside vendors for food service, which operate in-house.
