CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Primary Election Day is more than a month away but voters in Chicago have already started casting ballots.
Signs were up in the windows at the Chicago Loop Supersite, at Clark and Lake, directing voters to the entrance and hours for this location that will be open every day through Primary Election Day on March 19.
You can also vote today at the Chicago Board of Elections offices down the street at 69 W. Washington. Both locations are open from 9am to 6pm.
Early voting in the wards begins March 4th and a reminder that Chicagoans can vote at any early location, regardless of where they live.
Voters did not have a chance to look at sample ballots. The Chicago Board of Elections blamed last minute court activity and needed proofing for a delay.
Taking advantage was Donald from Auburn Gresham. He said he’s a regular early voter.
“I get it out of the way, beat the crowds. First day of voting is always the best…There’s nobody here but me. It’s better,” he said.
Other voters told WBBM that they are going to be out of town on Primary Day or they know who they want to vote for so they figure they would get it done.
The Board of Elections says about one in four primary voters cast early ballots. But, that number rose to three in ten during the City’s Mayoral Runoff last April.
