El Grito Chicago is back on.

The city's official festival for Mexican Independence Day was postponed last week due to fears about immigration enforcement activity.

Typically, the two-day long festival is held at Grant Park.

On Tuesday, Pilsen Community organizers gathered in front of St. Paul Catholic Church to announce the celebration will now be held there on Monday, September 15th.

"We know it's a weekday," says Teresa Fraga, president of El Comité Cultural Mexicano de Chicago. "Why a weekday? Because El Grito, traditionally, is supposed to be on the 15th."

A stage and seating area will be set up out front of the church, with live music expected to begin at 5 p.m.

El Grito, the historic cry synonymous with Mexican Independence, will be given by Congressman Jesus "Chuy" Garcia at 7:30 p.m.
