EVANSTON (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Members of the Evanston City Council have approved their end of an agreement with the Village of Wilmette concerning Northwestern University’s Ryan Field.

There had been a threat of a lawsuit by neighboring Wilmette over the commercialization of Ryan Field, specifically the disruption that some Wilmette residents have said would come from concerts.

Last week, an agreement between Evanston and Wilmette was reached, adding some protections involving noise and traffic, not just for concerts but also the demolition of the stadium and construction of the new stadium.

The Evanston vote was unanimous.

Wilmette takes it up this evening.

One opponent of the deal and of concerts at the stadium, the Most Livable City Association, which has filed a lawsuit, is urging people to show up and speak against the agreement.
