CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Federal Aviation Administration is going after eight airline passengers for their disorderly behavior involving alcohol.
More than $160,000 in fines has been issued, including $9,000 for a man on a February flight from Chicago to Connecticut.
FAA officials said the man started shouting profanities at United Airlines flight attendants after they told him there were no snacks or alcoholic drinks available.
He’s also accused of repeatedly removing his mask which is a violation of a federal requirement.
The man was met by law enforcement when the plane landed in Windsor, Conn. after he also began taking photos and videos of a flight attendant.
Since the start of the year, the FAA said it has received nearly 300 reports of passenger disturbances due to alcohol and intoxication.
The agency said it is working with the FBI and the Department of Justice to refer cases as appropriate.
Passengers who have been fined have 30 days to respond to the FAA.
