Family of missing boater frustrated with search process

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Family and friends want the search to continue for a missing man after he went into Lake Michigan on Tuesday morning from a boat on the South Side.

Rescue crews said he jumped off the 27-foot boat about a mile offshore from McCormick Place around 9 a.m. Tuesday and went swimming with a woman.

The woman returned, but Jackson has not been seen since.

The Chicago Police Marine unit searched the waters near 31st Street Beach Wednesday near the area where they believe 38-year-old Bryan Jackson jumped off a boat Tuesday at around 9 a.m.

Tanya Lozano Washington shared her frustration with CBS-2 about rescue efforts for the father of her children.

“There’s no effort here. There’s no communication, and everyone’s very relaxed about someone who’s missing who has two children,” Washington said.

She and others returned to the beach to find more about Jackson’s disappearance, like why the physical trainer who rarely went into the water would have jumped in with a woman who police said, returned to the boat alone.
