4 people pulled from Lake Michigan in 2 days near Chicago

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Four people have been pulled from Lake Michigan over the past two days in the Chicago area. Three of them have died, including a child, and a fourth person is in critical condition.

The latest incident was off-shore about a mile out from McCormick Place. A swimmer jumped off a boat and didn’t resurface.

It occurred at about 9 a.m. nearly one mile from McCormick Place. Someone went for a swim off of a 27-foot boat and did not resurface. A rescue operation became a recovery operation, officials said.

This after a 46-year-old woman was pulled from Montrose Harbor at about 2 a.m. Tuesday morning. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

A 27-year-old man died after being pulled from the lake near 49th Street after 10 p.m. on Monday, and a 14-year-old child was in critical condition after being pulled from the lake in East Chicago earlier that afternoon. The 14-year-old later died.

The Great Lakes Surf Rescue Project, which tracks incidents, reports a half-dozen deaths in Lake Michigan in two days in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin.
