(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – A man was killed Wednesday afternoon in a house fire that authorities blame on an electrical cord, the Chicago Fire Department said.

Firefighters found the deceased man in a coach house at 4631 S. Paulina in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, officials said.

The fire began from "improper use of an electrical cord," the fire department said.

CFD officials added that fire companies reported no smoke alarms in the building.

One firefighter received a minor injury.
