FBI searching for man suspected in 2 south suburban bank robberies

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The FBI is investigating after a man allegedly robbed two south suburban banks on Friday within an hour.

The FBI responded to a bank robbery at the Old National Bank at 1030 Dixie Hwy., Chicago Heights shortly before 5 p.m.

The suspect, described as a Black man in his 30s, demanded money from bank staff and showed a silver handgun.

He ran from the bank and about an hour later, the FBI responded to the Fifth-Third Bank at 15533 S Cicero Ave. Oak Forest for a robbery conducted by a man matching the description of the suspect at the first robbery.

The suspect was wearing a green bucket hat, a black cross-body bag, a light colored t-shirt, light jeans with ripped knees, and black sneakers.

The suspect also ran from the scene of the second back.

He is currently at large and the FBI is asking anyone with information report tips at 312-421-6700 and tips.fbi.gov.
