(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Four people were injured and over 100 people had to be evacuated after a fire broke out inside Austin’s Saloon and Eatery in suburban Libertyville, according to the Libertyville Fire Department.
The restaurant was hosting an Easter brunch service when it happened. Fire officials said crews responded to reports of a structure fire at Austin’s Saloon and Eatery at about 1 p.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters saw that an evacuation was already in progress as smoke poured out of the restaurant. The fire was believed to be in the bar area.
LFD’s initial investigation found that the sprinkler system extinguished the fire, though heavy smoke remained in the building.
Fire crews were able to ventilate the building and check for any injuries. Three people were treated on the scene for minor smoke inhalation, and a fourth person was taken to Condell Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The restaurant sustained fire, smoke and water damage.
LFD officials told WBBM the cause of the fire was still under investigation.
