(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Those ringing in the New Year downtown will once again be able to view the city's fireworks display.
Fireworks will be launched from six downtown bridges and accompanied by a custom Art on The Mart projection. The art projections will start at 10 p.m.
The six bridges where fireworks will be launched are Orleans Street, La Salle Drive, Clark Street, Dearborn Street, State Street and Columbus Drive bridges.
The city says the best viewing spot is along the Chicago River from Upper Wacker Drive from McClurg Court to Franklin Street.
The bridges will be closed to traffic from 11:45 p.m. until 12:15 a.m. and additional bridges may close as the countdown to midnight approaches.
Beginning at 11 p.m., the Riverwalk will close. The section from Wells Street to Orleans Street will remain open until 12:15 a.m. for people to watch the fireworks and the ART on The Mart show.
A massive countdown will also be projected on The Mart in the lead up to the New Year.
Just past the mouth of the river, an extended fireworks display will also take place at the Navy Pier. The 15-minute show will be synchronized to music.
