CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Attorney General Kwame Raoul says his office has reached a settlement with a Delaware corporation over alleged environmental violations at its Chicago bakery.
Newly Weds Foods, Inc. will have to pay a $755,000 civil penalty. The corporation operates a bakery in the Hermosa neighborhood on Chicago's Northwest Side.
Raoul’s lawsuit alleged Newly Weds Foods Inc. violated various air provisions of the Illinois Environmental Protection Act.
The corporation will be required to conduct emissions testing and install a pressure monitoring device at the bakery.
“This settlement ensures the company returns to compliance and demonstrates the State’s commitment to address noncompliance," said Illinois Environmental Protection Agency Director John J. Kim.
