CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Former Chicago Mayor Richard Daley is in the hospital this morning. He was taken there yesterday after not feeling well.

A fire department ambulance took the former mayor from his home downtown to Northwestern Memorial Hospital Wednesday afternoon. His daughter Nora Daley Conroy was with him at the time. The reason 9-1-1 was called was that the former mayor was “feeling out of sorts,” according to his former press secretary  Jacqueline Heard.

He was kept in the hospital overnight for a series of tests. Heard said he is alert and talking to family. Daley was hospitalized eight years ago after becoming disoriented on a flight. He was in intensive care for more than a week.

Heard also said the former mayor wants people to know he really appreciates the doctors and nurses at Northwestern for taking care of him during this health scare.

Former Mayor Daley is 80-years-old.
