(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Former Signature Room workers say they were blindsided by the abrupt closing of the restaurant and lounge on Sept. 28.
Now, they and union Unite Here Local 1 are filing a lawsuit against Signature Room operator, alleging unfair labor practices.
"I just feel unprepared,” said Nina Hernandez, who was a server at the lounge for nearly 20 years. “What's my resume going to say after being at the same place for almost twenty years? I'm ready to grow, but I just wish it hadn't been this way.”
Dozens of former workers marched on the restaurant operator’s corporate office Tuesday. The Signature Room occupied the 95th and 96th floors of the building once known as the Hancock Tower.
"We just want them to follow the law and take accountability for the workers that had trust in the company all these years," said Ron Gorney, an employee for 23 years.
