(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A suburban woman has pleaded guilty to stealing from Ravinia Festival Association when she was an employee.
Prosecutors said Michelle Bringham,39, of Glenview owes $230,000 in restitution and was sentenced to two years of probation for stealing from the non-profit.
Bringham was charged in August and just pleaded guilty to one count of theft over $100,000. As part of her plea, she also agreed to undergo a substance abuse evaluation and treatment.
The FBI found that she wrote checks to a fake vendor to steal funds when she worked as an accounting coordinator. She also used another employee’s signature stamp on checks without the employee’s permission.
“Anyone who abuses their position of authority for their own financial gain must be held accountable,” Attorney General Kwame Raoul said in a statement.
