CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Prominent Chicago Democrats say they are not worried that dissatisfaction with the Biden Administration over Gaza or immigration will hamper Kamala Harris's presidential hopes.

Illinois Congressman Jesús "Chuy" García agrees that Democrats should be ''running scared,” to use his term. But, that's because running as an underdog is good inspiration to work hard.

“I believe that people are making up their minds, and I believe that the recent revelations about the danger of a Trump presidency will convince many that they want freedom, democracy and, above everything else, they want a rational person in the White House,” García says.

Illinois Congressman Danny Davis feels other issues will be persuasive for the faithful.

“People are concerned and  know that there are issues right on the edge of movement forward, like a robust tax credit for children that Democrats are ready to pass,” Davis says.

He says we're close to the time when every child can receive early childhood education, another topic close to his heart.

García acknowledges that issues like immigration reform and Gaza can divide Democrats and be a challenge for the Kamala Harris campaign. But, the issues aren't crippling.

He says Republicans have their own concerns. They should worry about all the former high-ranking Trump administration officials who are talking about the dangers of another potential Trump presidency.
