(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — It's National Ice Cream Day, and Google Maps has shared a list of the highest-rated ice cream shops in Illinois.
The winner? Union Cafe in Downs, Illinois, was the highest-rated shop. Betty's Ice Cream in Chicago, on 58th Street and Kedzie Avenue, came in second.
Others in the Top 10 include Hooyahs Ice Cream Shoppe in Lake Bluff and Lincoln Ice Cream Company in Lincoln Square.
The "most searched for" ice cream shop in Illinois was Cone Gourmet Ice Cream in the West Loop.
The tech giant said searches for ice cream were up 45% in June 2022 compared to June 2021. Of all the dishes searched for on Google Maps in the United States, Google said ice cream was the second-most popular.
The top-searched ice cream chain in Illinois was Baskin Robbins, Google said. The top-searched chain in the rest of the Midwest was Ben & Jerry’s.
