Feds investigating discrimination allegations made at UIC

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC) has made a dubious list: It’s now among schools and school districts being investigated for alleged discrimination by the federal government.

The Civil Rights Office of the U.S. Department of Education announced it is investigating UIC as it takes action against alleged incidents of antisemitism, anti-Muslim and anti-Arab discrimination and harassment since the Israel-Hamas war began.

UIC officials said they were refraining from commenting on the investigation, but they added that the school strives to be a place of welcome for all — and will cooperate with investigators.

Officials have not yet shared what kind of alleged discrimination took place.

Other schools and school districts being investigated for similar reasons include the Springfield school district, Rutgers University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Drexel University, Stanford University, and UCLA.
