(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — After a year off due to the pandemic, a special edition of the Chicago Auto Show is set to kick off later this week.
Those tasked with putting it together say they’re thrilled to be back at work.
“Right now, we’re starting to see more and more face-to-face events versus the digital and virtual events that we’ve done over the past year,” John O’Shea, a union carpenter with the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters, said Tuesday.
“Things are getting back to normal a little quicker than we anticipated, but that’s a good thing.”
One of those events is this week’s downsized version of the Chicago Auto Show. O’Shea and others are currently putting the finishing touches on it at McCormick Place.
After what he called a rough 18 months, O’Shea said carpenters have never been happier to be back.
“It’s a great feeling,” he said.
