(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The parent company of Greyhound buses continues to scout for an answer as its West Loop terminal lease is a month from expiring.
Greyhound’s lease ends Oct. 20 at the bus terminal at 630 W Harrison Street.
In the meantime, buses continue to pick up and drop off passengers at the terminal as well as the two round trips a day that originate outside Union Station.
Greyhound’s parent company, Flix North America, said the timeline for vacating the bus terminal remains in flux and that it is continuing to work with local officials to determine what to do next.
Flix said its top priority is to maintain uninterrupted service.
A Flix North America spokesperson told WBBM Newsradio that the bus service is especially important for vulnerable people, including those with low incomes and those without cars. They pointed out that 73% the people who ride Greyhound buses that operate out of the West Loop earn less than $50,000 a year.
