
(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Grundy County Sheriff is still searching for the suspect who fled after a deputy tried to pull them over Sunday night on Interstate 55.
The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office said that around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, a deputy tried to pull over a vehicle for a traffic offense on I-55. Police said the driver is wanted on several warrants.
Another car, though, did not allow the deputy to get behind the wanted vehicle until the deputy activated his lights.
After the deputy activated their lights, the wanted vehicle sped off.
Police put down spike strips on I-55 and Route 113, but the vehicle came to a stop in a ditch.
The driver then ran away and has still not been caught.
A woman and three juveniles were still in the vehicle. They were not arrested.
Police did not pull over the other vehicle involved.
The Grundy County Sheriff's Office said its investigation remains ongoing.
