AURORA (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The ready-made food company, HelloFresh, is reportedly being investigated for alleged child labor violations at its Aurora plant.
A source from Immigrant Solidarity DuPage has told at least two news organizations that six teenagers or more, migrants from Guatemala worked nights at the facility.
The U.S. Department of Labor has confirmed to the Chicago Tribune that the agency is investigating the HelloFresh facility in Aurora as well as the staffing agency Midway Staffing.
HelloFresh told Tribune that it no longer works with that agency, claiming it has zero tolerance for any form of child labor.
Last week, Hearthside Food Solutions based in Downers Grove, agreed to pay $4.5 million to settle a child labor investigation. It, like HelloFresh, claimed it also worked with a third party agency.
