CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A major hospitality group is requiring its employees to be fully vaccinated by mid-summer.
The Fifty/50 Restaurant Group, behind such names as the Berkshire Room, Roots Handmade Pizza, and the West Town Bakery, sent a memo to its roughly 400 employees notifying them they must be fully vaccinated by July 15.
This goes beyond what other companies are doing: only encouraging employees to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Co-owner Scott Weiner told Crain's Chicago Business the vaccine requirement protects customers, employees, and their families. The hospitality group is working with appointment finder, Chicago Vaccine Angels, to help employees schedule doses.
According to Crain's, Fifty/50 Group’s vaccination policy has exemptions. Employees who are pregnant, disabled, have a medical condition, or a religious exemption that would prevent them from getting the vaccine can talk to management.
