(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A 25-year-old woman from the south suburbs is facing several charges, including drunken driving, after authorities said she sideswiped a state police vehicle on the Dan Ryan.

Alontae Holliday of Matteson was behind the wheel of a Nissan Sentra around 11:45 p.m. Friday when she failed to yield for an Illinois State Police vehicle on the inbound Ryan at Garfield, the ISP said in a news release. The emergency vehicle had its lights activated, officials said.

Holliday veered off the road and on to the shoulder, lost control, and traveled across all lanes of traffic before hitting the concrete median barrier.

Holliday is charged with DUI, driving without insurance, speeding and violating Scott’s Law. Scott’s Law, also known as the “Move Over” Law, requires drivers to slow down and move over when approaching
an emergency vehicle or any vehicle with their emergency or hazard lights activated.

The trooper in the vehicle was not seriously injured.
