(WBBM NEWSRADIO) --Indiana has reached a multi-million-dollar settlement with Google to resolve the state's lawsuit against the company.

Indiana state attorney general Todd Rokita said the state received $20 million as part of the settlement. It resolves Indiana's lawsuit against Google and its location tracking feature.

Rokita said Google can use even a small amount of data to find out personal information about users. He cites a 2018 Associated Press press report about Google's tracking practices.

A coalition of other state attorneys general were in negotiations with Google about the same issue, but after those stalled, Rokita filed a separate, independent lawsuit.

He said Indiana received double the amount of money had it not filed its own lawsuit.
