CROWN POINT (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Students in one Northwest Indiana school district are getting an extra day off during their Thanksgiving break, and it’s for an unusual reason.
The Crown Point Community School Corporation has canceled classes for today because its internet network may have been compromised during an outage last week. Supt. Todd Terrill said in a letter to parents over the weekend that, while students are off today, teachers and other staff will be preparing to teach and operate the network with limited access.
Child care is going to be available at Robinson and Ross elementary schools, and parents will be told later in the day what the plans are for reopening classes tomorrow.
