CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago-native Jim Irsay will return to his hometown Tuesday night to show off some stunning collectibles — but they don’t exactly involve football.
That’s because Irsay owns a lot more than the Indianapolis Colts.
He also has his hands on pieces of rock ’n’ roll history, all of which he’s putting on display at the Aon Grand Ballroom at Navy Pier Tuesday night, as part of his traveling Jim Irsay Collection tour.
“I really put it together meticulously over the last 25 years,” he said. “The idea was always to go after the best of the best.”
The collection includes items from music legends, including Bob Dylan, The Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin and The Beatles. Irsay said the collection also features presidential artifacts and sports memorabilia.
“I try to get out of the way of it and just let it stand on its own,” Irsay said. “I just do this as a service to show and bring it to the people so that the arts of this world are displayed correctly.”
The free event is open to the public from 7 – 10 p.m.
