CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Chicago mother is fighting a court order denying her visitation until she gets vaccinated.

The mother hasn’t seen her son in more than two weeks after a Cook County judge suspended her visitation rights until she gets vaccinated against COVID-19.

Rebecca Firlit was shocked when Judge James Shapiro told her she couldn’t see her 11-year-old son until she gets vaccinated, according to Attorney Annette Fernholz.

Fernholz’s representing Firlit as she fights the order in the unusual scenario since Firlit’s ex-husband didn’t even request that and the judge asked about vaccination status seemingly out of the blue.

Fernholz filed an appeal on Tuesday while Firlit only gets to see her son on video chats.
