CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) --As she announced her intention NOT to seek another term as Cook County States Attorney, Kim Foxx suggests she offered some sobering advice to Brandon Johnson who is soon to take office as Chicago's next Mayor.
Kim Foxx told the City Club of Chicago she met with Mayor-elect Johnson on Monday, and among other things told him that, as a Black man in a leadership role in Chicago, he will have a difficult time.
She added that, even though he hasn't yet been sworn in people will hold him responsible for crime in Chicago, which is crazy.
"What didn't seem crazy was that it was a black man taking on a role in a city that has not fully acknowledged or reckoned with its history of racism and what it does to black leaders and I told him if anything that he saw in my leadership, because I would imagine you know, that it has not been easy is that you have to keep going, but know that it's coming."
The States Attorney said she pledged that she and her office will work closely with the Mayor to help keep the city safe.
