Lake County launches COVID-19 vaccination portal, residents can register now

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Residents who want to get COVID-19 vaccinations in Lake County may now register for them.

Lake County opened Wednesday its AllVax Portal, a website in which residents can register to be vaccinated. Residents can also register over the phone.

The portal is not designed to be first-come, first-served.

The way it works is, residents put in some basic information and answer a few screening questions. Once the vaccine is available specifically for you, you will be notified.

Residents can register themselves and others on the portal. You can also set up vaccination appointments on the system through Lake County clinics or facilities when it’s the right time for you to get the vaccine.

Because supply will be limited at first, certain groups at higher risk of contracting and having bad outcomes from COVID-19 will be eligible to be vaccinated before others.

Lake County’s goal is to have 80 percent of residents vaccinated.

One official said the AllVax Portal gives the county the opportunity to get the right people the vaccination at the right time.
