(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A local brewery in Libertyville has temporarily closed its doors after the driver of an antique car slammed into the building's wall Wednesday night.

Mickey Finn's Brewery is Illinois's oldest brewpub and has been a staple of downtown Libertyville for decades.

Every third Wednesday of the month, the restaurant and bar has a classic car show.

Owner Brian Grano said he believes that, as an antique car was leaving Wednesday night, its accelerator got stuck and slammed into the side of the brewery. Grano said the crash took out Mickey Finn’s gas line and destroyed a wall.

“The fire department had to shut off a 1-square-block area until they resealed the gas,” Grano said. “It was crazy. There were dozens of police cars [and] fire engines. We had to evacuate the building.”

No one was injured, he added. Grano said they’re unable to cook given that they have no gas or hot water available, so his team has closed the inside.

Despite the temporary closure, the second annual Finn’s After Dark event — dedicated to raising funds for the local United Service Organization at Naval Station Great Lakes — will go on Thursday night.

“We’ve got a whole grill system set up,” he said. “It’s kind of Octoberfest-y food, schnitzel [and] sausage, but we do have burgers and hot dogs.”

The outdoor cookout and concert Thursday will take place behind the restaurant from 5 – 11 p.m.
