(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A popular Chicago pizza chain gave its employees a paid day off on Tuesday.
If you were craving a freshly made Lou Malnati’s Pizza, you were out of luck.
“We are closed for business today,” Spokesperson Mindy Kaplan said. “We closed all of our pizzerias in all of our locations.”
The first-of-its-kind day was all about Lou Malnati’s employees, she said. Sure, pandemic-related stress was one factor, but having Super Bowl Sunday and Valentine’s Day back-to-back also took a toll on workers, Kaplan said.
“We just really wanted to give them a break and say ‘Thank you for all that you have done.’ We pride ourselves on having great work ethic, but we also really pride our culture on caring for one another,” she said.
All locations will reopen on Wednesday.
