
(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Lyons Township woman has been charged with murder and child endangerment Thursday following an investigation into the death of her 19-month-old son, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday.
Officials said that on Oct. 17, 2022, sheriff’s police responded to a residence in the 800 block of Victory Lane after they learned that a child died at that location.
The sheriff’s office said 22-year-old Jamie Hannion left her son in the care of a relative, but when the relative arrived they discovered the boy and alerted police. When police arrived, the child was severely malnourished and unresponsive in his crib. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled his death a homicide due to nutritional neglect.
According to the press release. sheriff’s police tried to arrest Hannion on Feb. 26, when they learned she was visiting family in Tennessee. Two days later, an arrest warrant was issued for Hannion.
The FBI Fugitive Task Force arrested Hannion in Tennessee on March 7, and she was returned to Cook County on Thursday.
Hannion was scheduled to appear in bond court on Friday.
