(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Lake County Sheriff’s police today rescued a Mundelein woman who had been held captive and naked in a barn after she was kidnapped by a Round Lake Beach man, authorities said.

Deputies went to a Fairfield Road address around 1:30 a.m. Friday for what they thought was a domestic dispute. They learned that a female occupant had been abducted by an ex-partner, Claudio Gutierrez-Ocampo, 44, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Gutierrez-Ocampo allegedly woke the woman up, battered her and forced her into his van. He drove her to a property he owns and locked her in a makeshift bedroom in a barn, forcefully removing her clothing.

A family member of the victim reportedly checked the property, where Gutierrez-Ocampo’s van was parked, but could not get inside the barn. The family member called 9-1-1.

Sheriff’s deputies rescued the victim, who had non-life-threatening injuries, and arrested Gutierrez-Ocampo, police said.

Gutierrez-Ocampo is charged with kidnapping, home invasion, unlawful restraint and domestic battery.

He was expected in court Friday, but no further information was available.
