LAKE ZURICH (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A man is dead after an explosion and fire in northwest suburban Lake Zurich Tuesday night. WBBM’s Nancy Harty reports.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said the body of a man was found among the charred remains of a home on Overhill Drive in unincorporated Lake Zurich.
The whereabouts of the 77-year-old man who owned the home were not known Tuesday night when crews responded to a report of an explosion at around 8:30. There, they found a home consumed by flames and completely leveled.
The Lake County Coroner is conducting an autopsy while the State Fire Marshal and other agencies are investigating the cause.
