CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Kane County prosecutor said an attack on a family in Sleepy Hollow two years ago was one of the most violent and horrifying cases he’d ever encountered.

Now the man accused has pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 38 years.

Prosecutors said 34-year-old Fabian Torres has pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual assault and two counts of attempted murder.

And the state’s attorney’s office said Torres must serve at least 85% of his 38-year sentence.

Torres was accused of sexually assaulting and stabbing a 19-year-old woman and then stabbing her 17-year-old brother in their home in Sleepy Hollow in 2019.

Kane County authorities said at the time of the incident, Torres was on parole for attempted aggravated arson.

Prosecutors said the family is still recovering from physical and emotional scars.
