CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A man is recovering after being attacked in the Loop last night during an attempted robbery.

A 27-year-old man went to the Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition after, Chicago Police said, he was cut in the leg by a man or young man.

It happened at about 11:45 p.m. outside the Target near State and Madison during a struggle after, police said, the thief attempted to take the man’s bag then pulled out a knife.

Police told us the suspect was wearing black pants and a black shirt. He is not in custody.

Crime statistics for the first district where this took place show there have been 33 robberies so far this year through Sunday. That’s down from the last two years.
