INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Loyola University Chicago men’s basketball team chaplain, biggest fan, and good luck charm, Sister Jean, is excited to be in Indianapolis cheering on the Ramblers who will take on the University of Illinois Sunday in the NCAA men's basketball tournament.

Sister Jean is vaccinated and, at age 101, said it’s great to be out and see her team playing in person following months of being cooped up.

“I miss seeing the guys all of the time. We’ve communicated during COVID, which was from March 11 last year,” Sister Jean told WBBM.

Though adapting during the pandemic has been an adjustment for her, Sister Jean said she’s managed to keep in touch with the team.

“We barely got back from March Madness [last year and] four days later, everybody was gone from campus. It was very shocking to have all of that happen but I have to tell you that we did keep in touch with each other. Sometimes by Zoom, sometimes by telephone. Mostly by email, I would say,” Sister Jean said.

It shouldn’t come a surprise that Sister Jean is going with her heart and picking Loyola over No. 1 seed Illinois. She sees a victory for her team.
