The Mayor's office has released the names and resumes of the more than two dozen people hoping to be selected as the next 11th Ward Alderman to replace the convicted Patrick Daley Thompson.

Mayor Lightfoot's hand-picked review panel has a diverse field of candidates to chose from. The field include a few Chicago Police officers, a firefighter- EMT, attorneys, a Civil Engineer and a high school teacher.

One of the applicants was a top aide to ex-Alderman Patrick Thompson who was forced to give up his 11th ward seat after being convicted on federal bank fraud charges.

The Administration wants someone who has been active in the ward, and it's clear a number have been. A four-person committee will go through the applications, interview hopefuls, and the Mayor hopes to make a selection before next week's city council meeting.

Twenty-seven people submitted applications and resumes for consideration as the next alderman of the 11th Ward. This is a ward that will be redrawn to make it more likely to select an Asian representative. But the field of hopefuls for Mayor Lightfoot's appointment is very diverse. And it's likely most of the applicants are not widely known outside their neighborhoods.

But others have notable jobs. Jeffrey Sadowski is executive director of the Neighborhood Boys and Girls Clubs, for example. And Nicole Lee helps guide Social Impact programs for United Airlines.

Mayor Lightfoot is familiar with at least one of the higher profile applicants. Patrick Murray is a former Chicago Police officer who was first vice president of the Fraternal Order of Police. It was he whom the mayor described as "that clown" as he approached a public comment microphone. She didn't know her own mike was open.
