CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Metra’s new budget proposal includes a couple of options for discounting fares.
Metra said one fare discounting option would keep the fares where they stand today with a $100.00 dollar flat-rate monthly pass, a $6.00 Day Pass for unlimited rides across three zones and a $10.00 day Pass for unlimited rides across all zones.
The other fare discounting option would make a monthly pass equal to 16 one-way fares. Before the current monthly pass rate, a monthly pass equaled 29 one-way fares. The Day Pass would be offered only in the Ventra app and priced at two one-way trips.
The Metra budget proposal is just shy of one billion dollars.
