CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — There was a west suburban commuter train canceled this morning and it had to do with Lollapalooza which ended Monday.

Metra BNSF Train No. 1250 was canceled because of a crew shortage Monday morning. It had been scheduled to leave Aurora at 8:29 a.m.

Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile said there had been extra trains scheduled over the weekend because of Lollapalooza and, with federal regulations regarding how long train crews can work, there weren’t enough people who had the required amount of rest between shifts to handle the No. 1250.

Reile said train crews are allowed to work 12-hour shifts but must have at least 10 hours off before their next shift.

No crew issues were expected for the evening rush.

Metra said Saturday ridership was at 98% of pre-pandemic levels. Sunday’s ridership was at 88% while Friday's ridership was at 36% of pre-pandemic levels.
