(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The White Sox are reuniting with an old name.

After a five-year hiatus, the White Sox and Chicago-based Molson Coors are teaming up to make Miller Lite the official domestic beer at Guaranteed Rate Field.

The South Siders had teamed up with Constellation Brands, makers of Modelo, and Goose Island brewery owner Anheuser Busch.

While Modelo will remain the official imported beer of the White Sox, the Goose Island partnership is ending.

The former Goose Island specialty seating area in right field will now be called the Miller Lite Landing.

The move makes sense, Crains Chicago Business reporter Danny Ecker tells the Noon Business Hour, because Molson Coors is headquartered in Chicago.

“For decades, the White Sox and Miller Lite have been connected with the ballpark experience,” Brooks Boyer, the White Sox chief revenue and marketing officer, said in a news release. “As the organization prepares for a new and promising season on the field, this is the perfect opportunity to team up with Molson Coors.”
