JOLIET, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) --The mother of a Joliet man who’s been reported missing brought her concerns to the City Council Tuesday night.

Jewel Robinson said she wants help. Her 37-year-old son has not been seen since last week.

"I'm the mother of the young man, Robert Long, that's missing. My heart is heavy right now," she said addressing the city council members.

"What I am asking for is community help-Neighborhood help. I'm doing a search party Friday morning at 10 o'clock, and asking people to come out and support me and my family and try and find my son."

Robinson lives in Riverwalk Homes, an apartment complex in Joliet and said her son was last seen in that area. She fears that Long may be in the Des Plaines River.

The Fire Chief Police said they did a brief search of the river and would continue.
