CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Family members of a missing South Chicago man gathered Monday night at CPD Headquarters, demanding answers in the case of their missing loved one.

Jovon "JB" Nelson, 24, disappeared on April 9. His mother Tanjala Nelson said he was last seen running towards the Ewing Avenue Bridge over the Calumet River.

She is asking Chicago Police for more resources and help finding her son. As the owner of the restaurant Sandwich Queen, she said she's overwhelmed by the constant worry and searching for her son.

“I haven’t eaten, I haven’t slept, I haven’t opened my restaurant,” Tanjala said. “I’m losing out on income. It’s just so much. I can’t stay strong, and I still have to do police work because I can’t go to sleep without knowing where my child is.”

The family is offering a $2,500 reward for any information.

Tanjala has turned to Kevin Collins, owner of KC, Bodyguard Search and Rescue, for help.

“We have reached out to the mayor. We have reached out to the aldermen, the governor’s office. No one yet has reached back out to us,” Collins said. “CPD, I’m just going to be honest with you, the detectives are treating this case like its not a priority for them.”

Chicago police said they have no updates on the case.
