Murder of two Palatine teens likely a targeted killing, police say

PALATINE, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- There's new information regarding the murder of two teen boys in Palatine.

The two 16-year-old boys, identified as Eduardo Alpizar and Uriel Garcia, were gunned down on September 15 in the area of the 1800 block of Green Lane North.

A recent update from Palatine Police shares new information in that authorities believe the boys were specifically targeted and that the shooting may have been gang- related.

The vehicle believed to be involved in the shooting has been recovered, but no arrests have been made.

A Gofundme page was started by a family friend to cover funeral costs for Garcia, who was deaf.

"Uriel had dreams. He was smart and talented. He dreamed of becoming a mechanic," Isela Marquez wrote on the page. "He always knew how to put a smile on everyone's face."
