CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- It's day three of Lollapalooza and eyes won’t just be on the stages.
The Office of Emergency Management and Communications is monitoring the weather for potentially severe thunderstorms, which becomes a major concern when 100,000 people take over Grant Park.
Evacuation orders are possible, however. It happened during the festival several years ago. Butler Field, on the south end of Grant Park, was a muddy mess.
CBS 2 asked four friends from Minnesota what they plan to do, should bad weather hit.
"I heard that you're supposed to like find a meetup point; like a designated point, before you like go into the crowd," said Alexandra Ortega.
"Follow the crowd and make the run for it; see what happens; go to our hotel," said Ava Palma.
There are designated shelters in the parking garages. The evacuation shelter sites can be accessed through the vehicle entrance on Michigan Avenue, according to OEMC.
Announcements will be made if it becomes necessary. Also, alerts are set on the Lollapalooza and OEMC apps.
A map of shelter locations and additional safety information can be found here.
