Within the past hour on social media,  Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias made the announcement. He says all DMVs across the country are not operational.

He adds that, if you plan on going to an Illinois driver services facility, to call 800-252-8980 prior to your visit.

The outage could impact operating hours or services such as road tests, Giannoulias said.

Online services are still available.
