HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A man charged by prosecutors with stabbing and killing his parents in a Highland Park apartment has appeared in court.
Prosecutors said police were called to the apartment in the 1800 block of Green Bay Road Wednesday after getting reports of yelling and threats from inside.
Investigators said when officers arrived, they saw what appeared to be blood under the door and entered the apartment.
The Lake County Coroner's Office said officers found the bodies of Ronald Goldberg, 79 and Renee Goldberg, 74.
Police said the bodies were in a pool of blood and that there was a knife nearby, and their son Barry Goldberg was covered with blood.
Prosecutors did not provide a motive for the killings, but claim Barry Goldberg admitted to killing his mother.
A judge set bond for Barry Goldberg at $5 million.
